“Why is it your business? Are your bills paid? Are you deprived of something? Go get a man – go do something with your life,” Olandria, 28, told. Cosmopolitan Thursday, June 18. “Why does it matter if Nic and I are together?”
Olandria recalled the incident when she posted with Nic, 25, on social media, adding, “People in the comments were like, ‘Oh, I needed proof that they saw each other this week.’ Why are you so invested by people who don’t know you?”
He continued: “That part annoys me, because I’ve never invested so much in a human relationship, and I don’t live for the Internet.
Olandria defended how she and Nic took their relationship into the open.
“We don’t make money off our relationship or make it public. If you really want to spend quality time with someone, it doesn’t have to involve a camera every two seconds,” she added. “We enjoy each other’s company and do what normal people do: go out, have fun, and get to know each other.”
Love Island USA viewers were invested in Olandria and Nic’s dynamic when they joined the show in season 7. Since their time in the villa came to an end, Olandria and Nic have preferred not to write about their lives for public consumption.
“We go to dinner and watch movies in a real theater. We hung out at his house in Florida. We rode his dad’s bike,” he told the media. “He actually got his drone and filmed me and Nic on the motorcycle. It was great.”

“It’s important for our mental health. These people have met you on TV, so they want to reach you all the time,” Olandria said. “You want to post normally, but then you see people overanalyzing every little thing, and you shut up. When it comes to me and Nic – when you really care about something – you keep it very sacred and close to you.”
She added: “When I was younger, I never understood why people in Hollywood keep their love lives a secret, and now I do. If you post a lot, they think you’re making money and cheating. If you don’t post at all, they can’t tell if you’re together. There’s no winning.”
Olandria also revealed that the couple reached a high point, saying, “He said that he has been in love twice and the third time was beautiful.

“For now, the cynics and the cynicism have gone too far,” he said in May. “I’ve said everything I need to say. Right now, it’s about not paying attention.”
Nic has made it clear that he is focused on protecting their relationship from outside comment.
“Just to understand, I know the limits [I have for] me and how much to share and what not to share,” he explained about finding a balance on social media.
Nic also recommended “blocking people” and putting restrictions on the internet. Despite creating distance between himself and social media, Nic is still happy to throw away “breadcrumbs” when it comes to important things in his relationship with Olandria.
“We’ll be hanging out, and I’ll take a picture where his hand will be in the picture. And people will see, so it’s funny,” he laughed.
