Off Campus’ Mika Abdalla, Jake A Short Break in Silence After a Breakup

Off campus star Mika Abdalla and an ex-boyfriend Jake Short they speak specially Us Weekly about a controversial resurfaced podcast clip that was making waves online following their breakup.

“We’ve seen the discussion around clips of us together while we’re dating, and people are making hurtful and negative assumptions about our dynamics,” read a joint statement from Abdalla, 26, and Futhi, 29, about the conversation that resurfaced in a 2024 episode of “The Sit and Chat” podcast. (In the video, Short made a joke about Abdalla that some social media users have since called the Internet controversial.)

The former couple commented Us that “they were in a respectful relationship for five years” and “it’s sad to see playing time separated in a way that doesn’t show the respect and love we had and still have for each other.”

The exes started meeting after a few days Us released the news of their separation after five years together. In a statement to UsAbdalla’s attorney said, “Due to the intense curiosity about Mika’s personal life and the many false reports, I can clarify that Mika and Jake are no longer in a relationship.”

A spokesperson noted that Abdalla and Short continue to “support each other as friends,” adding, “I would ask that Mika and Jake’s privacy be respected at this time.”

The former couple began dating after meeting on the set of Sex Appeal in 2021, and even got engaged before splitting. Abdullah,
since then he has been focusing on his career following his breakout role in Prime Video Off campus.

Based on- Off campus book series by Elle Kennedy, The show, which premiered in May, follows an elite ice hockey team — and the women in their lives — as they “struggle with love, heartbreak and self-discovery — forming deep friendships and lasting bonds while navigating the challenges of transitioning into adulthood,” read the official synopsis.

Season 1 focuses on “the captivating and exciting rivalry between quiet songwriter, Hannah and star hockey player at Briar University, Garrett.”

Ela Bright again Belmont Camel led the first season, with Allie and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) next in line. Before production began on season 2, Abdalla spoke to him Us about program support.

“Ever since the cast was announced, I feel like there’s been some ideas floating around on the internet, and it’s been really fun to read,” he said of the book-to-TV adaptations. “I think people will be surprised at least.”

Abdalla specifically mentioned Hunter Davenport’s surprise presentation (Charlie Evans) – despite not being connected to Allie in Kennedy’s version of the story.

“It was really important to have that scene to minimize what happened between Allie and Dean. I want to see them go. I want to see them really separate,” Abdalla commented. “Allie just got out of a long-term relationship. She can’t do what she always does. … I really like the drama of Hunter’s storyline. They need to grow as individuals. So I really want to see Ali and Dean grow apart in season 2.”

The actress was very happy when she saw what was going to happen next for Allie and Dean.

Abdalla expressed excitement at the opportunity to explore more of the legendary couple’s relationship.

“I’m looking forward to delving into who Allie and Dean are. They both have these ways, these people that are hard to break through. They’re kind of their own ideas, if that makes sense,” she told us. “But in the books, there’s a lot under Dean and there’s a lot under Allie.”

Abdalla continued: “When it’s time for our season, I’m excited to dig into the atmosphere of that little by little. [We] look at Allie and Dean as the most outsiders in season 1. And while that’s fun, and they’re really fun characters to play, I think as characters, selfishly, we’ve both really enjoyed loving, finding common sense.”
