Suspended Alyssa Thomas gets support from her teammates and coach after taking a cheap shot on Caitlin Clark

If you need any more convincing that the WNBA is filled with some of the most hateful and manipulative athletes and coaches in professional sports, I have proof. Phoenix Mercury star teammate Alyssa Thomas, who was suspended, as the WNBA announced Thursday, “disrespectfully touched her fist to the throat area of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark,” and Mercury Associate Head Coach, Kristi Toliver, both defended her in an online post.
Mack took to Threads, the second most liberal social media site after Bluesky, to show support for Thomas. He wrote, “FREE AT until FREE!! me and my fiance.”
You must be out of your mind if you’re going to write a social media post about your colleague, who looked more like a thug jumping an innocent woman in a dark place, than a basketball player. There is absolutely no defense for Thomas’ actions, but we live in a world where millions have defended Carmelo Anthony for killing Austin Metcalf, so not much surprises me today.

WNBA SUSPENDS ALYSSA THOMAS FOR HITTING CAITLIN CLARK IN PROLINDE DURING SUFFERING
Toliver took to her Instagram Story on Thursday, shortly after news of the suspension broke, with a photo of herself and Thomas, along with the caption: “When they go down, we go up – Michelle Obama.”
In context, this is a quote from Michelle Obama’s speech during the 2016 Democratic National Convention, where she praised Hillary Clinton and shamed Donald Trump. The full quote in context shows how crazy it is to use this phrase in this particular situation. The former First Lady said, “That’s what Barack and I think about every day as we try to guide and protect our girls from the challenges of this extraordinary life. We stand out… The way we emphasize that the hateful language they hear from respected people on TV does not represent the true spirit of this country. The way we explain that if someone is cruel, or acts like a bully, you don’t put it down, – no, we go down, – no, we rise to our level.”
Thomas punched Clark in the throat and kneed him in the lap, but Toliver wants the public to believe that Thomas is the victim. This level of error should be studied.
Dallas Wings forward DiJonai Carrington, who was a teammate of Thomas’ when he played for the Connecticut Sun in 2024, has surprisingly come to Thomas’ defense and repeatedly posted on his X account. Another post is “why wasn’t this a suspension?” in reference to Sophie Cunningham’s 2 bad Jacy Sheldon of Connecticut, after Caitlin Clark was poked in the eye by Sheldon and cheaply shot by Marina Mabrey moments earlier. If he had done some research, he would have known that there is a clear difference between the two games. Cunningham was ejected from the game, and Thomas was never tested for personal foul play or foul play. Suspension and promotion to 2nd place after league review.
He also posted a clip of the hilarious insult that led to Thomas’ suspension with the caption, “Let’s show a clip of Alyssa Thomas in real time…” Of course, the clip doesn’t show other angles, nor does it show slow-motion clips showing why the suspension was justified.
In case you forgot, Carrington has attacked Caitlin Clark since she entered the league. He targeted Clark for the 2024 WNBA Playoffs and falsely claimed that Clark’s fans “justify racism, bigotry, bigotry, xenophobia, homophobia and misogyny.” He and Thomas also said Indiana Fever fans were racist during that playoff series. Thomas said in a postgame interview, with Carrington by his side, “In my 11-year career, I’ve never seen a racial comment from an Indiana Fever fan.”

Only in the WNBA will you see the league, players and coaches doing everything possible to destroy their newfound success, while trying to hurt and humiliate the only reason their names are known. Also, why are they now flying private, why was the historic new CBA signed — making them more money than they thought possible in the WNBA, and more.

Caitlin Clark has been cheap shot and maligned since entering the league. He is the punching bag of a jealous, hateful, racist, misogynist league. In my assessment, they will not tolerate a straight, white woman from rural America being the face of their wing. The league needs to do a better job of protecting their golden goose. There is no excuse for this criminal behavior in court. It’s bad for this game and it’s dangerous for Clark’s health, who is currently out of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks, according to head coach Stephanie White speaking to the media on Friday.
