Daryl Sabara grief over the loss of his father, Roland Sabara.
I Spy Kids the actor, 34, shared the news on his Instagram on Friday, June 19, sharing a photo of himself with his father a few days before Father’s Day.
“My father, Roland Sabara, passed away last night,” Daryl captioned the photo.
The actor, who has previously spoken openly about growing up without a father, reflected on their complicated relationship in an emotional post.
“We only saw each other a few times, and I will always cherish those memories,” he continued. “I know he did his best, and I know he’s in a better place now 🤍.”
Daryl shares three children with his wife Meghan Trainor. The couple are parents to sons Riley, 5, and Barry, who turns 3 in July. They welcomed daughter Mike Moon via surrogate in January 2026.
In interview no Mr Feel Good in June 2023, Daryl explained how his childhood experiences and the absence of a father affected his approach to parenting.
“I grew up without a father – he left when I was young,” he said. “So I didn’t have that role model growing up and for me, especially since I’m going to be a father of two boys, I feel that was a blessing in a way.
The actress continued: “My mother was basically a mother and a father, and she did the best she could. But what I’ve learned in my 30 years, in my therapy and my healing, is that our parents are ingrained in us unconsciously.”
Daryl also revealed that reaching a certain milestone with his eldest son was a difficult experience.
She said: “When Riley turned ten years old, I had this kind of breakdown, as I was passing the time that my father had. “I didn’t think I would ever leave my son.

The actor expressed the same about the impact of his father’s absence in his life when he spoke to him People in the same month.
Speaking to the outlet, Daryl also expressed the idea that becoming a parent has helped him process emotions surrounding his childhood.
“I will say that it is very amazing because I did not have a father,” he said at the time. “My father left my family when I was 1. So being a father gave me the experience of being a father that I always wanted.”
