Sharon Osbourne missed the unveiling of her late husband’s statue, Ozzy Osbournebecause of an “unexpected” trip to the hospital.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t be at Hellfest for the Ozzy statue unveiling. Unfortunately I had an unexpected trip to the hospital earlier in the week,” Sharon, 73, shared on Instagram on Thursday, June 18. “Thank you so much Olivier Garnier, Ben Barbaud and everyone at Hellfest. Special thanks to @philippe_pasqua_offiel for the excellent template!”
A six-meter tall statue of the “Prince of Darkness” – that, as Sharon said, was designed by a modern French artist. Philippe Pasqua — launched this week at a heavy metal festival in Clisson, France. The stone image is engraved with Ozzy’s concert slogan, “Let the madness begin.”
Hellfest has a history of paying tribute to fallen rock heroes, with organizers erecting a similarly large statue to honor the late leader of Motörhead. Lemmy Kilmister in 2022. (Kilmister died at age 70 in December 2015 following a battle with prostate cancer.)

The “Prince of Darkness” photo at Hellfest is one of several ways the Osbournes are honoring the life and legacy of the late Ozzy, who died at the age of 76 in July 2025. (His cause of death was confirmed to be related to cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease1)
Sharon and son Jack Osbourne recently announced that work has begun on the creation of Ozzy Osbourne’s AI avatar. Per Rolling StoneSharon and Jack partnered with Hyperreal and Proto Hologram on an AI-powered avatar with “Ozzy Osbourne’s digital DNA, voice, image [and] movement.”
“Elvis died 50 years ago, and everybody knows Elvis,” Sharon said at the Las Vegas launch in May. “I want that from Ozzy.”
And Jack’s sister Kelly Osbourne specifically shared no Us Weekly at the Mind x Ricky Hatton Foundation charity auction with special plans to commemorate the first Father’s Day without Ozzy.

Asked how he coped with the loss of his father, Kelly said Us“I’m getting a little better every day. The pain will never go away, and I’ll never be the same person I was before he died. But I’ve learned something new.”
The Osbournes announced Ozzy’s death on July 22, 2025, just 17 days after his last concert. Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England.

“It is with more sadness than words can express that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning,” they shared at the time. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask that everyone respect our family’s privacy at this time.”
Ozzy was laid to rest in his hometown of Birmingham on July 30, 2025.
