Selma Blair Shows Up For Legally Blonde’s 25th Anniversary

Ahead of the film’s 25th anniversary, Selma Blair thinks back to some of the most memorable red carpet looks she’s worn in the press Legally Blonde.

“I remember just doing my own style, like, it never occurred to me to have an artist,” Blair, 53, told Self. Us Every week. “I remember at that time, I just wanted something, and I would go to the store and buy it, or go to the store and say, ‘Hey, can you dress me?’ It was just a different time. I thought it wasn’t easy when people put on makeup [a] premiere or style.”

Blair continued, “That’s a little girl’s idea though, because you see after five years I need makeup.

Blair wore a red and navy striped halter dress to the Los Angeles premiere of the show Reese Witherspoon-led the film in June 2001. He was dressed in black Ralph Lauren debut in Southampton, New York, the following month.

Blair noted how much things have changed since those days, especially when it comes to fashion.

“Everybody has style. It’s crazy. You can’t even keep clothes,” Blair said. “Well, like a gown, that’s why you get a stylist or I can go to a store and buy a gown.”

“I stayed in my closet for a long time when I left Legally Blonde again The Sweetest Thing,” Blair agreed, “I didn’t hold anything back You are cruel Objectives. But you know what I did, stupidly, I gave it to people who were fans, or I gave it to kids or teenagers who were going through something that I encountered over the years. So, I don’t have everything. I have one similar beret, with beads, but it’s fine. I get moths every once in a while in my room, so that’s just it.”

The current staple of Blair’s wardrobe is the bed jacket. He recently teamed up with Kansas City lifestyle brand MERSEA to create a limited-edition pajama capsule collection, Sea La Vie, that “celebrates pajamas as a modern self-care practice.”

“I came across this amazing woman-owned business years ago, when I wasn’t doing well with MS,” said Blair, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018. “I was in bed a lot, and I got this wonderful care package, and I was very impressed, and obviously I really enjoyed it.”

“The bed is my favorite thing,” said Blair. “So now I have more blankets than the average bear, and I couldn’t be happier. But I can throw on my bed jacket and go out looking really cute.”

In the collection, which dropped on Tuesday, April 14, Blair designed the Molly Bedcoat, with the help of the MERSEA group, which is, in part, paid for by her mother.

“[My mom] she was pregnant four times and bed jackets were very popular in the late 1950s or ’60s, so I got these bed jackets when I was little,” Blair said. And I remember when I first moved to New York, and I didn’t have any clothes, I was going out to a nice dinner, and I only packed one bag for this move to New York. One thing was a bed jacket that my mom put in the bag. So I wore it for this kind of night. which was just gorgeous underneath, and the cool pants and high heels I didn’t forget.”

For their bed jackets, Blair and MERSEA created two colors, “Starry Navy” and “Ballet Pink.” Other items in the collection include: Selma Jumper, Button Up Running Button Up and matching Playground Pants, Drive Thru Shirt and coordinating Chill Out Shorts, and Boyfriend Button Up Shirt and matching Beddy-Bye Shorts.

There are also many matching accessories and sets available, with 10 percent of the proceeds benefiting the American Brain Foundation, where Blair is now a Global Ambassador and National Chair for Brain Health.
