Inside the Last Days of My 600-Lb Life’s Dolly Martinez

Dolly Martinezsister, Lindsey Cooperreveals details of the TV star’s final days before he tragically died on Saturday, April 11. Cooper tells it alone. Us Weekly that Martinez was put on a ventilator on March 30, about two weeks before his death at the age of 30.
“When I think of my sister, I think of love,” Martinez said only Us Weekly. “Dolly always wanted to be loved and loved by other people. And I felt like she was doing that. She was doing it everywhere she went.”
He continued, “No matter how old you are, no matter what people say about him or how they treat him, you could always come to Dolly and be there without him judging you.
Although Cooper says he was “not informed” of his sister’s hospitalization before she was put on a ventilator on March 30, he feels content with their final goodbyes.
Cooper reveals that when he arrived at the hospital, he sat with Martinez and “had tea,” where he spilled the proverbial tea about family drama and other “bitter things” he knew his sister would have liked.
He adds that he could tell that Martinez was listening because his eyes were blinking and moving as he spoke.
Cooper also remembers bringing pink nail polish, cleaning supplies and lotions to the hospital to “clean her up.” She painted Martinez’s nails with bright nail polish, she said Us it was her sister’s “favorite color”.
He assures you that My 600-Lb. Life star died of a heart attack.
Martinez’s doctors initially considered performing a tracheostomy, Cooper said, but decided against the procedure when they realized his lungs weren’t working well enough to be taken off a ventilator.
According to Cooper, Martinez’s oxygen levels kept dropping and on the day he died, the level was only 50 percent. (At the Cleveland Clinic, an oxygen level below 90 percent is considered dangerous and potentially life-threatening.)
Despite being hospitalized for weeks, Cooper says Martinez’s final days were filled with love. He tells the story Us that his sister died “painlessly and peacefully.”

He adds that other loved ones — including Martinez’s mother, Staci Thurmanand their cousin Gina – they were all in the room when Martinez died.
Martinez rose to fame in 2021 when he appeared on season 10 of My 600-Lb. Life. When she started filming the TLC series, Martinez weighed less than 600 pounds and was on extra oxygen.
During his episode, he moved to Houston, Texas, to be near the office of surgeon Dr. Now. Although he eventually lost 40 pounds, Martinez was not approved for the weight loss procedure.
Before his death, Martinez’s sister asked for prayers during his two-week hospital stay. On Saturday, Cooper confirmed his death in a Facebook statement.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” Cooper wrote. Dolly had a very bright personality, she could light up any room with her laugh, her kindness and her loving spirit. He had a way of making everyone feel special, and his warmth will stay with us forever.
The statement continued, “While our hearts ache here, I find comfort in knowing that you are now reunited with our father in heaven. I can only imagine the joy of this reunion. Rest in peace Dolly. You will always be loved, always remembered, and never forgotten.”
