Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley and his family are reported to be safe after authorities say they were the victims of an attempted burglary.
According to the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to respond to a burglary at the 29-year-old NFL star’s home in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 18, just after 5:00 am ET. According to authorities, the suspects fled the area before police arrived.
“They were at home, and fortunately, as you know, in any situation like this, what worries us the most is that the residents of that home at the time were not injured, which they were,” Capt. Tyler Moyer he told reporters, according to ESPN. “They were fine after that, obviously they weren’t satisfied as much as anybody.”
The Chester County District Attorney’s Office in Pennsylvania also released a public statement on social media following the incident, saying detectives are assisting the local police department with their ongoing investigation.
“We are very thankful that the Barkley family was not injured in this incident,” the District Attorney’s office said in a statement. “We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible by checking any home security cameras to see if there is anything suspicious in the area around 5:00 in the morning.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Mike Conley Jr. he also reported in September of the same year that people broke into his home while he was attending a Minnesota Vikings game.
Captain Moyer told the Philadelphia media, WCAU-TV, that local authorities are not ruling out a possible connection between the incident at Barkley’s home and incidents involving other athletes.
“We will look at all aspects of this because we know, obviously, there have been a lot of news in the past few years about breaking into the homes of different athletes,” he said.
