Chrissy Teigen Defends Sharing Nipple-Baring Photos Online

Chrissy Teigen defended her decision to share a number of photos on social media showing her nipple through a shirt.
“I think because they were cut into discs and reattached to my body three times and fed babies and stuff, I don’t think nips (especially mine) as sexy or risquΓ© but I’m sorry if you do,” wrote Teigen, 40, in the comment section on Sunday, June 28, an Instagram carousel that includes snapshots.
He continued, “I hope you will survive πππ you probably will. I love you so much.”
Of the five photos shared by the model and entrepreneur, four showed off her right nipple in a white button-down shirt with a collar and one photo showed Teigen’s arm hiding the flesh.
Fans were quick to show their support for Teigen, who shares four children with her husband John Legend. (Teigen gave birth to the pair’s three children β daughters Luna, 9, and Esti, 3, and son Miles, 8 β while another helped the couple welcome their youngest son, Wren, 3.)
“Girl, mine has been cut, rebuilt with my own skin, and tattooed. Nips are nothing to be ashamed of either!” wrote one fan in the comments section of the post, while another wrote, “Love your fierce honesty.”
Legend, 47, also showed his support for his wife by posting a wide-eyed emoji in the comments section.
Teigen is no stranger to her shared social media antics that ruffle fans’ feathers. In June 2024, he and Legend attracted controversy after Legend uploaded a video of his wife disposing of her body in a brown bath. The comments section of the post was flooded with disapproving comments.
“Ok thank you for listening bc she said she wipes off ALL her body makeup… the only way this kind of water can be okay,” wrote one fan, while another wrote, “Damn she needs to let go of that dirty water before posting on social media.”
Teigen addressed the criticism hours later by writing herself in the comments section, “The water is dirty because I’m doing my body makeup, like I said in the video my sweet angels!”
The following year, internet trolls took issue with her bath water again when Teigen shared photos of her children bathing in coconut milk. “It’s a coconut milk bath on sensitive skin but it works,” she wrote later.
Teigen’s credibility online extends beyond discussions about her body and bathing habits. Earlier this month, she publicly mourned the loss of her father, Ron, in an Instagram video in which she revealed that she would continue to talk to him “every night.” She has also opened up about her pregnancy, mental health, treatment and sobriety, among other subjects, over the years.
