Vice President JD VanceThe White House tour would not be complete without his wife, the second lady New Vance.

Long before he was elected President Donald TrumpThe running mate of 2024, JD made a unique love story with Usha while both were in law school.

Their relationship, however, became more prominent when the Vance family moved into the White House on January 30, 2025.

In November 2025, the couple hit the headlines when Usha was spotted without her wedding ring while visiting the Camp Lejeune military training center in North Carolina with the first lady. Melanie Trump.

Spokesperson for Usha he later issued a statement to People that reads, “[She is] a mother of three young children, who cooks a lot of dishes, washes herself a lot, and sometimes forgets her ring.”

A few months later, in January 2026, Usha and JD announced that they were expecting their fourth child together.
The two welcomed their son Alec Vance in July 2026.

2010

When JD and Usha were both students at Yale Law School, the couple met when they joined a discussion group about “the decline of society in white America.

In interview no NBC News in 2017, Usha said that she and JD took all their classes together and were friends before they started dating.

When they were assigned to work briefly together, Usha was even more impressed by his diligence.

“I’ve never seen anyone so surprised,” their law school professor, Amy Chuasaid JD in an interview with NBC News. “It was love at first sight.”

2014

In 2014, the couple got married in a Christian and Hindu ceremony. (JD later converted to Catholicism in 2019.)

“There are a lot of things we just agree on, I think, especially when it comes to family life, how to raise our children,” Usha said. Fox News in June about his interfaith wedding. “I think the answer is that we just talk too much.”

2016

JD released his best-selling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy. The book details his childhood in the working class United States Rust Belt. It later became a 2020 film directed by Ron Howard.

At one point in the book, JD he remembered the time Usha “fell hard” at Yale. He described him as having “genetic problems” because he had many good qualities.

He also admitted that he “broke all the rules of modern dating” by telling her he was in love after one date.

2017

Vance and Usha welcomed their first child, son Ewan, in June 2017. The couple later welcomed their second son, Vivek, in February 2020, before welcoming daughter Mirabel in December 2021.

“Blessed with an early Christmas present this year,” JD wrote on Instagram after Mirabel was born. “Everyone please meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first baby girl. Mother and baby are both doing well, and we feel very grateful this Christmas time.”

August 2024

During the 2024 presidential race, Usha sat down with him Fox News in his first solo interview.

During the interview, the second lady was asked about her husband’s comments in 2021 about the United States being run by “cat women without children.”

“The truth is, JD … makes a game of making a point that makes sense,” he said. “He was actually saying that it can be really hard to be a parent in this country, and sometimes our policies are designed in a way that makes it even harder.”

January 2025

JD and Usha celebrated their new home at the White House in a traditional way.

“Inauguration balls are a beautiful, time-honored tradition of the Presidency,” JD wrote Instagram at that time. “Usha and I are honored to join President Trump in celebrating the beginning of a new golden age for America. Now let’s get to work 🇺🇸.”

October 2025

Despite living in the White House, both JD and Usha wanted to give their children a traditional Halloween by dressing up as a family.

“We hope you had a spooky Halloween!” Usha wrote about Instagram with pictures of their celebration in Washington, DC

November 2025

Usha sparked divorce rumors after she was spotted without her wedding ring during a visit to Camp Lejeune in November 2025. A spokesperson for the Vances explained that Usha “is a mother of three young children, cooks a lot, takes a lot of showers, and sometimes forgets her ring.”

The event came weeks later Erika Kirk welcomed JD Vance during a public speaking event and noted that the Vice President shared a “similarity” with her late husband.

December 2025

The Vice President addressed rumors of marital discord during a December 2025 interview with NBC News. He insisted that the relationship between the two is “as strong as it’s ever been” and said of the rumours, “I think we’ve kicked it.”

“In anything in life, you take the good and the bad,” he said again. “You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are great things that come with it, too. But our marriage is as strong as it’s ever been, and I think Usha has really taken to it, and it’s been great to see how she’s developed and evolved in this new role.”

January 2026

Usha and JD announced on Instagram that they are expecting baby number 4.

“We are very happy to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our baby boy,” reads a statement posted on Usha’s Instagram. “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming her in late July.”

July 2026

The couple announced they had welcomed their fourth child in a statement posted on social media, which read, “We are happy to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our children are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”

“The amazing military doctors and staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House medical staff have been a blessing,” the announcement continued. “We are very grateful for everything they have done for our family.”
