Hulk Hogan Considered Suicide After Divorce From Wife Linda

Hulk Hogan opened by hitting “rock bottom” following his divorce from his first wife, Linda Hoganin his last speech before his death.
The late WWE star – who died of a heart attack aged 71 in July 2025 – admitted he was suicidal after he gave Linda, 66, his vast fortune in their divorce, which was finalized in 2009.
“I went home and I started drinking and, you know, I started taking pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple of days, and the next thing I know, I’m sitting in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and I don’t know what I’m doing,” Hogan said in an interview with the Netflix film. Hulk Hogan: The Real Americanpremiered on Wednesday, April 22.
“I hit the ground. People. So, I gave him everything to get rid of him, and after the divorce I had no money.
After his divorce with Linda – Hogan shared a daughter Brooke37, and a son Nick35 – Hogan joined Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling in 2009, saying he “saved me” because he was “broken.”
Hogan joined TNA alongside a former WCW executive and longtime friend Eric Bischoffwho recalled in the letter that at the time, Hogan was “down and in pain.”
“He was in a very dark, very painful part of his life,” Bischoff added.
Linda was also interviewed for the documentary and talked about feeling in love with Hogan, even after his death.
“I still care about him in the same way … it never ends. I wish things would have turned out differently for us,” she said. “But when he got sick, I realized that my love for him never ends, I still had his love, I really do, I still love him.”
Hogan is married Jennifer McDaniel in 2010, a year after his breakup with Linda, but they separated in 2021. In September 2023, he got married. Sky Dailywho stayed with him until his death.
After Hogan’s death in July 2025, Linda mourned the loss of her ex-husband, writing in an Instagram post, “I had no idea he was going to pass away so soon. We all thought he would come back! Big surprise. We’re all devastated.
“I love you Hulkster. You were my man. The only man for me. RIP,” wrote Linda, who married Hogan in 1983.
Hogan’s cause of death was determined to be acute myocardial infarction, known as a heart attack, according to the documents obtained Us Weekly. The documents revealed that Hogan had a history of leukemia CLL, a type of cancer that attacks white blood cells called lymphocytes, which he did not disclose publicly during his lifetime.
