How Darrell Sheets’ Son Honored Him at a Celebration of Life

“He was like a pillar. [He was] star, he was strong. He reminds me a lot of his father,” Darrell’s Storage Wars the costar Laura Dotson you are only told Us Weekly for Brandon’s attendance at a memorial service at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, California on Monday, June 29. “He has a lot of the same stories and funny things that he does, and he says, ‘That’s it, baby,’ and when he does that it sounds like Darrell in the room.”
Laura, who attended the event with her husband Dan Dotsonalso shared that Brandon, 42, talked about the impact Darrell had on him.
“He talked about him being a great father, grandfather and a wonderful friend, and how much Darrell helped him in his life, becoming the man he is, and the father he is,” Laura recalled.
Brandon shares two children with his wife, Melissa. Besides Brandon, Darrell was the father of a daughter Tiffany, who has a daughter named Zoie, 22. Before his death, Darrell helped raise Zoie, who was present at the memorial.
“She looks like she’s doing really well. She’s got a lot of support,” Laura, 58, said of Zoie. “All of Darrell’s sisters were there, [his] his brothers were there, family members were there, his cousins were there and they all looked like him. His friends are like him.”
Darrell’s ex-wife Kimber Wuerfelwho were with him from 2011 to 2016, joined the ministry. According to Laura and Dan, Wuerfel was “up front” and “getting along well” with Darrell’s family.
“Everyone was very worried about him and his health, but he looked strong,” Laura said of Wuerfel. “She was just taking care of everybody, and full of love and stories, saying, ‘Share, share Darrell’s story,’ and [it was] to bring her comfort I saw, so that was really amazing.”
Kimber also spoke at Darrell’s celebration, recalling the good times they shared.
“I saw tears and brokenness in all of them,” Laura said of all the tributes to Darrell. “Everybody was hugging and praying and lifting Darrell up again, and they started laughing at something somebody said, so it was tears of joy and happiness, and [they were] saying, ‘We know Darrell has God. We know he’s in heaven,’ just feeling that he knows he knows he’s there, so they can have peace.”
At the beginning of this year, Us confirmed that Darrell died at the age of 67. Her death was ruled a suicide by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office in Arizona.
“We are saddened by the passing away of our beloved member Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets,” A&E said in an April statement Us. “Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
