KFC is launching a brand overhaul that includes an expanded menu and modern retail and restaurant designs.
“The brand is set to open a new generation of spaces designed for hospitality, not just efficiency – with spaces that feel flexible and adapt throughout the day to accommodate various events,” the fried chicken chain announced in a recent press release detailing the renovation.

According to the company, “The first expressions of these newly designed spaces include an open-concept design in McKinney, Texas, that redefines the brand’s heritage with modern energy, which is expected to open in late summer.”
The restaurant will be called “Open House,” KFC president Catherine Tan-Gillespie told Restaurant Business. It will be tested near the Plano, TX headquarters of Yum! Brands, which is KFC’s parent company, said the report.

“We take the idea that we can do all the things with our system, but how do we connect the system and jump forward ten years?” Tan-Gillespie said. “What would the reinvention of KFC look like if (founder) Colonel (Sanders) were around today? How do we take all of his legacy, his DNA, into the next generation’s mindset?”
Table service, drive-through and takeout will be part of the Open House restaurant, Restaurant Business reports.

“The idea is to serve hot chicken in a warm and welcoming environment with a new restaurant design,” Tan-Gillespie said. “It’s a reinvention of the brand, the promotion and the location.”
Along with “next-gen restaurants,” KFC announced several menu additions.
The company is expanding its bare-bones menu items and adding “a lineup of 20+ sauces from modern takes on classic recipes to internationally-inspired yet classic flavors.” Examples of new dipping-sauce flavors include Chimichurri Ranch and Honey Habanero.

In addition to new restaurant designs, KFC announced a new focus on boneless chicken options and spicy sauces.
“KWENCH by KFC” is another program that the company has launched in other countries (not yet in the US) which includes Boba Refreshers, Krunch Shakes, Sparkling Lemonades and Iced Coffees.
In 2024, the company launched its first Saucy! by KFC, a restaurant specializing in chicken tenders and sauces, in Orlando, FL. The company has since expanded the Saucy! in 10 Florida locations and announced plans earlier this year to bring the concept to Texas.

Along with new restaurants and menu items, Colonel Sanders is getting a new look, too.
“The brand leverages its unique heritage to feel relevant, clear and relevant to modern culture, while remaining true to itself and based on the Colonel and his famous ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ rules,” the company said.

The brand’s visual bucket is “reinvigorated with new energy and the subtle evolution of the Colonel himself, ensuring that the brand’s heritage remains at the forefront and relevant,” KFC said.
