Lindsey Vonn Rocks Black Bikini Amid Continued Leg Recovery

“June is full of spirit, no blinking!” The Olympian, 41, posted on Instagram on Sunday, June 21, alongside a slideshow of how he’s spending his summer.

The first photo showed Vonn rocking a black bikini as she basked in the sun on a warm afternoon. Her brown hair was down, flowing in natural waves.

Vonn also added more moments where she had taken them out Laura Dern, Gayle King and other loved ones. The skater also attended the Black Eyes Peas concert.

In addition to her fun, Vonn shared a few snaps from the gym. In one clip, Vonn can be seen pulling up and standing next to exercise equipment.

Earlier this year, Vonn suffered multiple leg injuries. Back in January, he tore his ACL in a World Cup race in Switzerland. Despite the pain, Vonn pushed through to make it to the Olympics, which began the following month. While competing in Milan and Cortina, Vonn crashed during a downhill event and needed to be airlifted to the hospital.

Vonn suffered a broken tibia and underwent emergency surgery. The athlete later revealed that his leg was almost amputated due to severe trauma caused by the accident.

“Dr. Tom Hackett saved my leg,” he explained in a social media video in March. “He saved my leg from being amputated, he did what is called a fasciotomy, where he opened both sides of my leg and opened it so I could talk, he let it breathe, he saved me.”

After surgery, Vonn’s priority was her recovery. He started hitting the gym again six weeks after the accident.

“First set of pull-ups after surgery… getting there a little bit,” Vonn captioned a video showing her fitness routine.

As Vonn continued to work out, she talked about the difficulties in her recovery process.

“All these things, it took time,” he said in an interview in April no Athletic. “There were a lot of layers to it. That made it challenging. And then, if you have slow progress, that’s mentally tough as well.”

Last month, Vonn attended the Met Gala and ditched her crutches for the first time. Before arriving at the event, Vonn shared what it means to her to achieve her goal of recovery.

“I’ve been in a very different world, especially since the accident,” he said Vogue before the Met Gala. “This is my kind of coming out party – I get to be with people, put on a nice, feminine dress, and put my bum down for the first time.”
