A Georgia couple has been charged with murder after they allegedly killed a bartender and dumped his remains in a lake, according to authorities.

Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, were arrested Monday on suspicion of murdering Jamal Rashad Parker, 37, at a home outside Atlanta, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Investigators found Parker’s remains in May at the Dog River Reservoir, about 30 miles outside of Atlanta.

Parker confirmed his identity using DNA matching technology after his father contacted authorities to report that the victim’s tattoos matched his son’s ink, local station WSB-TV reported.

Investigators believe two suspects killed Parker at the Douglasville home where Baker lived.

Late last month, investigators were seen leaving the home with a chainsaw and cleaning supplies, according to WSB-TV.

Police have not yet revealed whether Parker knows the suspects who killed him. However, a GoFundMe created by a family member described the two as “people they know and trust.”

The suspects pleaded not guilty in court on Tuesday and are being held without bond. Both have lengthy criminal records, according to reports.

“I want them to be punished. And I don’t even think that a life sentence is enough,” Parker’s father, Charles Parker, told WSB-TV outside court.

“It’s the kind of stuff you see on TV, but I mean … they weren’t sorry,” he added.

In addition to dancing at Ms. Icey’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta, the victim was a musician and artist with a “good soul and spirit,” according to a GoFundMe page set up to cover funeral expenses.
