How to watch the US Open on Thursday
In his long career near the top of the pro game, Rory McIlroy has only won two majors in one season. That was back in 2014. Twelve years later, McIlroy began his 2026 US Open campaign at Shinnecock Hills with a chance to repeat the match.
He is in that position thanks to his 2026 Masters victory in April, which represented his second consecutive win at Augusta National.
He sounded confident in his pre-tournament press conference on Monday, and heading into Round 1 at Shinnecock, McIlroy’s game is in good shape. Whether he and his fellow competitors can navigate the brutal winds and difficult greens on Thursday is another matter.
McIlroy gets his US Open start early Thursday at 7:52 am ET, and will play fellow European Ryder Cup players Ludwig Åberg and Tommy Fleetwood.
