Pitt Stars Talk About Robby’s Problematic Behavior After Backlash

Women at the center of Pitt talked about how the show dealt with Robby’s sexism and other issues.
Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Shabana Azeez again Sepideh Moafi participated in a joint interview Wrapping up on Monday, June 15, where they tested how Noah WyleThe character of Robby, has allowed a great deal of discussion about how women are treated in the workplace.
“I noticed the whole time, and there were conversations I had with other actors like, ‘Wow, OK.’ We are not in the writers’ room. We don’t know exactly what they were thinking or what they wanted to show,” Dearden, 33, who plays the role of Mel King, recalled how Robby interacted with women on television.
Dearden noted the response Robby received, adding, “If it wasn’t intentional, it’s like, ‘Hey! It’s great that everyone knows what sexism looks like. It doesn’t have to be a misogynist.'”
Although Dearden wasn’t sure how much those scenes were meant to be, he was glad the conversation was started.
“If it was meant to be, what a great way to show a character who is flawed, someone who you love and is someone who loves to be angry and has really bad ideas in his head,” he continued. “At least in my opinion, Robby’s whole journey this season, this guy’s mind isn’t working the way it should be. It shows what depression and PTSD look like.”

Season 2 of Pitt it was a difficult journey for Robby, who faced criticism on social media for the way he handled problems with his female employees compared to his male colleagues. Moafi, 40, pointed to a key scene where his character, Baran Al-Hashimi, reveals his epilepsy to Robby.
“People with disabilities, especially doctors with disabilities or with chronic health conditions, including epilepsy – that really affected me, because even though they are legally protected by the ADA, they are still discriminated against,” she explained. “We saw Robby’s response [to her epilepsy] to have a problem and to have a skill, and that’s something they deal with throughout their career.”
He added: “It really struck me how important it is to people. I save every message I get, whether it’s by post or on the Internet or on the street, or whatever.
Wyle, 55, meanwhile, previously recalled that viewers were divided over some of the storylines in The Pitt – including Robby and Samira Mohan’s Ganesh scenes.
“I’m more underrated than you’d think,” he told ScreenRant in May. “But I have children who keep me aware of what many people say.”
Wyle heard about some of the responses on social media.
“My son calls me and says, ‘Dad, America is really mad at you. You have to stop yelling at Mohan,'” he laughed. Or, ‘Dad, everyone is really worried about you, they think you’re going to kill yourself.’ So that’s usually how I get my answer.”
Pitt renewed for season 3 on HBO Max.
